ARG! It’s time to grab ye cutlasses and make sail for Portland, Oregon, home of this year’s ARGFest-o-Con.
What, pray tell, is an ARGFest-o-Con? It’s a gathering of Alternate Reality Game players, designers, and enthusiasts that has occurred annually since 2002. Over the years, it has grown from a loose get-together of friends into an organized conference with panels and nationally recognized speakers. This year’s speaker lineup has not yet been announced, but past keynotes have been given by Jane McGonigal (2005), Sean Stewart and Elan Lee (2007), and Dave Szulborski (2008).
You can attend this year’s ARGFest in Portland, Oregon on the weekend of July 17-19. It will take place at the Courtyard by Marriott Portland City Center. There are special hotel rates available through the event website.
This year’s conference is dedicated to the memory of Dave Szulborski, who passed away in April. He was one of the pioneers of ARGs and his loss has reverberated around the community.
See ye there, mateys!
